If elected, will you support taking the dispute with Valley Waste to binding arbitration?

The issues with Valley Waste need to be looked after and become finalized. One way or another. If it has to be binding arbitration than that is how it will be done. The council cannot be breaking the NSDOE laws with their new facilities. I will not support breaking any law knowingly.

The lack of rural internet has been a pressing issue for over 15 years and while there are some concrete signs of preparation for some new installations, there still remains a number of County residents who will not be afforded the same level of internet service when it is all said and done.

If elected, can you commit to advocating for the same level of service for all residents, including “final mile” residents? Yes or No

Yes . I think all residents should have equal opportunity. That being said some times the cost can out way the possibility.

Annapolis County elects 11 councillors for a population of approximately 19,000. The councillors then elect a warden from amongst themselves. Total remuneration is $405,062.

Kings County elects 9 councillors for a population of approximately 49,000. Since 2016 a mayor has been elected by the population at large. Total remuneration is $392,688.

1) Do you support a review of the number of councillors required for Annapolis County? The cost of a councillor in Annapolis County per person is all most three times of that of Kings County.  $21.31/person in Annapolis compared to $8.01/person in Kings. So something that should be addressed by council.

2) Do you support having a mayor elected by the population at large? At present time the council picks the warden for two years at a time and if they are not happy they can elect a different one for the next two. If voted in by general election and not happy they are stuck with their choice for the full four years. So no.

What ideas or plans do you have for constructive community engagement?

I believe as councillor one should be open and available to meet and talk with the people of the district and in the county. There is a lack of newspaper coverage and the local radio doesn’t seem to cover much. The council should send out a newsletter once a month by mail until the internet is up and most residents have the proper coverage to receive the information from them. Council should be fully transparent.

What do you see as the top three priorities for Annapolis County, and how do you plan to address them?

The three major issues I see are : Lack of transparency to the taxpayers and general public, The garbage system that was put together on their own and fines and law issues with it, The aging water system in Margaretsville.
I would work with council and let people know how and why we as council come up with the decisions we make. Work with the residents of the county to come up with workable answers and solutions to the issues in the county.
